Montlake bridge closed Saturday for boating season opening

This Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Montlake Bridge will close to all traffic for Opening Day of Boating Season. In addition, the westbound SR 520 off-ramp to Montlake Boulevard, and the left turn access from the eastbound SR 520 off-ramp to Montlake Boulevard, will be closed.

This is an annual closure, due to the high number of boats expected to travel through the Montlake Cut. Since federal law dictates that boat traffic has right-of-way over vehicle traffic when bridges block the path of marine traffic, keeping the bridge raised for this event allows for the event to continue with minimal disruption - and it’s safer for drivers, pedestrians and boat users.
